This car belonged to a friend
of mine. I was a member of the 4-Ever 4-Cylinder Club and so was/is my friend. He went to
an estate auction about 10 years ago to buy another Model A, but came home with this
instead. It's a stunning car and the previous owner had painted the thing in its original
2-tone dark green and gray. He's put only 250 miles on it since he bought it. I'm now the
third owner and the car has only 8400 total miles on it (not a misprint!).
The interior is completely original and needs nothing, though the old cloth material is
getting pretty thin in some spots. Everything works find on the car (hell, the engine's
just getting broken in!), but the radio stopped working on about the third day I had it. I
don't know why yet, but it keeps blowing the fuse. Minor problem.
I kind of feel like I jumped the gun a little on buying this car because I
REALLY wanted the big straight 8 and wasn't up to speed on the difference between the
Special and the Century. I figured because the thing has dual carbs, it must be the big
motor. Oh well, live and learn. This car is way too nice to worry about that anyway! I'm
having way too much fun with the car just the way it is!
I had a '39 Opera coupe when I was a kid in the mid-70s and have always
wanted another Buick but got heavy into Model As and Ts. In fact, I have to sell my T to
buy this Buick! I'm still pretty excited! |
